Deja Blu was formed in 2001 & quickly established a reputation as one of the best dance bands in Colorado. Known for their high energy shows & playing your favorite variety dance music covering 5 decades, the music is a danceable mix of the very best of Classic Rock, Soul, Motown & Blues with a little Swing thrown in for fun. The band is comprised of excellent musicians who love to entertain the audience and have fun on stage. With fiery lead guitar solos, a solid rhythm section & a Hammond organ- the musicians are some of the best around. Add to this recipe 5 vocalists with harmonies that are especially tight & powerful- you get one of the best dance bands in Colorado. This band will keep you on your feet. Bring your dancing shoes- the music is infectious.

Liz

Liz Valles - Lead Vocalist/percussion
Growing up in a musical family, Liz was encouraged from age 6 to sing & perform. She studied clarinet, flute, guitar, & voice up through college. She joined her first rock band at the age of 22. Music has been a way of life for Liz. - Singing everything from classical, folk, rock, bluegrass and blues. Her influences include: Linda Ronstadt, Bonnie Raitt, Aretha Franklin, Anita Baker and many more. Liz possesses a powerful, expressive voice, an ear for harmony and is a great high-energy performer. She pours her heart & soul into each performance. Her love & passion for the music is apparent by watching her on stage. The reviews say it all: "undeniable stage presence", "An amazing vocalist with incredible range. What a voice!","A powerhouse bundle of energy".

Jeff Engler - Lead Guitar/Vocals
AKA "Bald Willie Montane"- Jeff has been playing guitar since the early age of 15.Jeff has been a member of local bands The Eleventh Hour, Two Tree Forest, The Yard Dogs and most recently, Bald Willie Montane. His influences include Jeff Beck, Jimi Hendrix, BB King and the hundreds of musicians he has played with over the years. Jeff style is soulful and funky. Jeff has wowed audiences with his fiery solos & his sound. He also provides lead & backup vocals. It is rare to find a guitarist that can cover so many styles so well.

John Bickham-Keyboards/Organ/Percussion/Vocals
John began his musical & rhythm formations at an early age. His early influences were the Beatles, the Cream, the Who, Chicago, Vanilla Fudge, Jimmy Smith, Crosby Still & Nash and Jimi Hendrix. John started playing in bands in the 9th grade and was featured as lead vocalist. John is an amazing musician & can cover it all. From powerful lead vocals & intricate harmonies to putting down a conga back beat. John plays a Hammond XK-3 Organ that adds that authentic, classic rock/blues sound to the band. His smile is infectious and his love of the music apparent as you watch him on stage.

Ken Robinson - Bass Guitar/Vocals
Ken has been in Denver-based bands for over 25 years, and prior to moving to Denver he played progressive rock in Iowa and Top 40 in the southeast. Ken played the grueling Central City tourist scene in the 80's after touring with Denver-based rockers "Bystander" in the early 80's. Ken has also played with original alt-rock band Big Junior, rock n roll legend Bo Diddley, blues guitar great Jim Schwall, and lately the Longmont classic rock band "In Harms Way", oldies band "Groovin- On" and blues harmonica virtuoso Clay Kirkland. Musical influences include- James Jamerson, Mel Schacher , Jack Bruce & John Entwistle .

Mark Messenger (AKA "Shibumi") - Drums & Vocals
Mark comes to us from the Midwest where he was weaned on Blues, Rhythm and Blues, and Funk as well as the Classic Rock from the 60's and 70's. Playing drums for over 30years, he has played for numerous other bands including local favorites - " "Phantom Freeway and the Bad Ass Horns" & "Semi Giant". When asked what he thinks makes music that?s worth listening to he replies, "to me it's all about the groove. If the bass and drums put a solid foundation down, the rest of the band can stretch out and really put the icing on the cake" Mark provides lead and backup harmonies as well.
